Day Course
Description: This course has been designed to give a broad overview and understanding of
the key health and safety issues and responsibilities involving
cameras, lights, and sound, during the making, shooting and
recording of productions, whether on locations, in studios,
theatres or on film stages. The course will place a great emphasis
on identifying the hazards associated with use of electricity
on location, lighting rigs, working at heights and the variety
of camera work, including camera cranes. Examining the completion
of satisfactory risk assessments and the understanding of the
responsibilities to ensure safe procedures are practiced, with
the need to co-operate and exchange information with other
members of the production team.
It is aimed at DOP's, Lighting Directors, Cameramen, Grips, Gaffers, Best Boy,
Production Electricians, Sound Supervisors and Recordists,
etc. Essentially anyone who may at some point be involved in
the setting up of the power supply, the design and build of
the lighting rig, the direction and undertaking of the camera
work and sound recording on a production.
